Job Summary
Kane County Hospital is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and manage our financial operations. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO plays a critical role in supporting the hospital’s mission and long-term goals through sound financial planning and decision-making.
The CFO will oversee all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, capital planning, and revenue cycle management. This role also manages relationships with lending institutions, pay sources, and the broader financial community. Department oversight includes Accounting, Business Office, Billing, Health Information Management, Information Technology, and Imaging.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Strategic Financial Leadership – Develop and execute financial strategies to ensure the fiscal health of the hospital while aligning with our mission and long-term goals.
Financial Reporting and Regulatory Compliance – Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, and state-specific regulations, and internal policies.
Revenue Cycle Management – Oversee the end-to-end revenue cycle operations to improve key metrics and maximize reimbursements from Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers while maintaining compliance with Utah billing practices and laws.
Revenue and Budget Forecasting – Create accurate revenue projections based on patient volume, reimbursement models, and scenario planning to navigate unpredictable reimbursement changes and economic pressures effectively.
Executive Collaboration – Participates as part of the hospital leadership team which includes Chief Nursing Officer, Human Resources Director, and Chief Executive Officer. This team presents to the Hospital Board of Trustees monthly and works through organizational needs and implements change.
Qualifications
Education:
- Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- Preferred – Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or related advanced degree.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive financial leadership experience in healthcare, with at least five (5) years in a senior financial management role such as CFO, Vice President of Finance or similar.
- Proven track record of success in managing financial operations in a hospital or healthcare system, preferably in a critical access hospital or rural healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in revenue cycle management, including tracking and improving key metrics.
- Experience preparing and managing operating and capital budgets, including long-term financial planning.
Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of healthcare finance, including cost reporting, supplemental funding (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid), and navigating audits.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, such as Stark Las, Anti-Kickback Statute, and CMS compliance requirements.
- Advanced skills in capital planning and managing investments for infrastructure and technology upgrades.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to the Board of Trustees, executive leadership, and external partners.
- Proficiency in financial systems and tools, budgeting software and healthcare-specific applications.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, supervise, and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with executives, clinicians, and operational teams.
Certifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) required.
