Healing Arts January 2016

  • Jan 2, 2016

Kane County Hospital would like to welcome Patricia Hopps and Guy Shurley to our Healing Arts roster. Hopps and Shurley are helping us kick off 2016 with some amazing photos.

Patricia Hopps has been in Kanab just over a year , she is not only an artist but also a licensed psychologist with a practice located in Kanab. Her love of photography began 12 years ago while traveling. She began with architecture, still-life’s and landscapes and now includes photographing models and weddings.

Her work has been shown on New York City’s Times Square marquee. She has taken celebrity photographs for their portfolios and book jackets. Hopps anticipates the opening of her Hall of Art gallery soon with a studio attached in Kanab.

Guy Shurley moved to Kanab from Lake Powell where he took to heart keeping Lake Powell clean by volunteering with Lake Powell’s Trash Tracker program. Shurley’s love of the “Lake” clearly shows in his current work which is on display for January’s Healing Arts exhibit.

“Reflections of Lake Powell” captures the warm tones of the lake. Guy enjoys photographing the small things people often overlook.  He has begun taking his inspiration from the patterns of southern Utah’s rocks.

Kane County Hospital would like to invite you to their Healing Arts reception on Thursday, January 21 at 5:30 in the Hospital’s lobby. KCH will be hosting the event serving light refreshments and an opportunity to speak with the photographers. Please join us for their reception.
