Kane County Hospital is hosting two artists in the month of June. Both comment on how lucky they have been to grow up in Kanab and the beauty our area offers. I have to agree southern Utah seems to bring out an artist’s best whether it is a natural wonder, photography or the personal art form of choice.
Danny Brown states, “I spend most of my free time out in the beautiful hills and backcountry of southern Utah.” He works with picture stone, or Whisper Sierra Sandstone, bringing the natural beauty of our scenic west to the forefront with his interpretations.
Brown was born and raised in Kanab working with picture sandstone for most of his life. Considered as an expert with his knowledge of this natural material he has chosen to make it his life’s work. He and his family manage the Natures Showcase in Kanab.
Kurt Robinson is carrying on his family passion of living in and sharing our slot canyons and limitless scenery. His grandfather Merrill and uncle Grant owned and operated Robinson Ranch Tours which planted the seed for Kurt’s love and respect for our country. Kurt reflects, “With most of my life spent outdoors, I’ve developed a keen eye for photography.”
Robinson supports several charities and organizations throughout our community. He donates a percentage of each piece sold benefiting; the Greyhound Gang, Good as Gold Golden Retriever Rescue, and Kane County Hospital’s Healing Arts.
Danny’s and Kurt’s work will be on display for the Healing Arts rotation from June 2 through June 29th. KCH will be hosting their reception on Thursday June 9th at 5:30 in the hospital lobby. Please join us our guest artists are always willing to share their experiences, tips and stories.
